Edit Your Fortnite Gameplay

A good Fortnite clip starts before the elimination. Show the landing spot, the choice of cover or the rotation that made the final shot possible.

Three cuts from a match recording

Pick the story before you trim the footage. Each format below gives the viewer a different reason to watch.

Endgame highlight

Use the shrinking play area to establish the stakes. Keep the rotation and the final encounter in sequence so the win makes sense even to someone who missed the stream.

Landing route guide

Record the drop, first pickup and exit from the landing spot. Add your voiceover where the player has a choice and trim the travel between landmarks.

OG squad recap

Start with the map location your squad recognizes. Pair the first reaction on voice chat with the return to that spot, then finish with the best play from the match.

How to edit a Fortnite video

One match and a clear brief are enough to start.

  1. 1

    Choose the recording

Bring your own Fortnite gameplay, voice chat or recorded commentary. Note the timestamp where the play starts and the moment it pays off.
  2. 2

    Describe the cut

Try this brief: “Make a vertical clip of our final rotation. Keep the teammate's warning and the last shot, then hold on the result for a beat.” Specify the audience and whether you want a narrated recap or a short highlight.
  3. 3

    Review the decisive moment

Play back the sequence with sound on. Check that important calls land before the action, captions are accurate and the crop leaves the play visible.

Fortnite editing questions

Check the character, crosshair and opponent at the moment of impact. If the fight spans the screen, keep the full-width view for that shot.

Make your first Fortnite highlight

Bring one recording and tell Sparki which play you want viewers to remember.
